MACC participates in the RNCA 2021 Meeting

The Minho Advanced Computing Center (MACC) participates in the RNCA 2021 Meeting, which was held virtually, between 28 and 30 September. The participation of MACC was focused on the two supercomputers: Bob and Deucalion.

This event aims to raise awareness of the National Network for Advanced Computing, its resources, as well as sharing training opportunities and also experiences of using RNCA platforms, to users and the research and innovation communities.

João Barbosa, researcher at MACC, gave a keynote talk about the Deucalion, the new EuroHPC world-class green supercomputer in Portugal which will be installed at MACC, focused on the architecture chosen to achieve energy efficiency.

Ricardo Vilaça, also researcher at MACC, presented BOB as one of the RNCA Operational Centers in Portugal.  This presentation focused on the available resources and some statistics and uses cases of Bob usage in the 1st edition of the Advanced Computing Projects Competition.

It is important to mention that the RNCA 2021 Meeting was organized by FCCN, with the support of several RNCA partners and inspired by the 3 pillars of the National Strategy for Advanced Computing published in 2019, promoted by INCoDe.2030 - National Initiative on Digital Skills.

The event is aimed especially at RNCA users and partners but is open to anyone interested in learning more about High Performance Computing (HPC).
