MACC researchers take part in the RNCA Meeting 2023

On the 7th and 8th of November, the MACC team travelled to Vila Real to participate in the RNCA 2023 meeting. In this context, the new computing platforms for 2023/2024 were presented and the bridge between RNCA and European Supercomputing was discussed. The two-day meeting was also useful to deepen synergies, partnerships and the development of competences in HPC, as well as to find out about the possibilities of access to national and European supercomputers.

Ricardo Vilaça, MACC researcher, was responsible for moderating the round table "The Journey of Advanced Computing beyond academia", in which Vasco Teles (ATTRACT DIH), David Luna (CoLAB ForestWISE), Miguel Nóbrega (UMinho), Anabela Oliveira (LNEC), Margarida Prozil (DataCoLab) and André Matos (DTx-CoLab) participated.

The event also included the inauguration and tour of INCD's new facilities, where participants got to know the data centre and its equipment. The first day ended with a visit to the Massive Laboratory (INESC TEC), which provided a virtual tour of São Leonardo das Galarufa.

On the second day, João Barbosa, also a MACC researcher, was responsible for moderating the Visualisation in HPC webinar, which featured Kelly Gaither from the Texas Advanced Computing Center. The same researcher then participated in the debate "Future of Advanced Computing in Portugal: challenges and opportunities in the context of project implementation (COs)".
