Deucalion showcases AI and Computational Fluid Dynamics capabilities at EuroHPC Summit 2025

Last week, the Deucalion supercomputer showcased its advanced capabilities through two demonstrations at the EuroHPC Summit in Kraków, Poland.

The first demonstration highlighted the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) for inference tasks, specifically utilizing Deepseek and Llama3. These models employ deep learning techniques to generate data-driven insights, enhancing predictive capabilities and informing decision-making across various domains.

The second demonstration focused on a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation model. This model applies physical principles to simulate fluid flow, temperature distribution, and pressure within systems, providing valuable insights for optimizing engineering designs and addressing complex fluid-related challenges.

Inaugurated in September 2023, Deucalion is a petascale system capable of executing more than 10 petaflops or 10 million billion calculations per second, supplied by Fujitsu Technology Solutions.  Deucalion is a unique EuroHPC supercomputer combining ARM A64FX processors and the Bull Sequana technology provided by Eviden,  the Atos-owned business in advanced computing.

These demonstrations at the EuroHPC Summit underscore Deucalion's versatility and significant role in driving innovation within the European HPC landscape.
