MACC attended the EuroHPC’s governing board meeting and the inauguration of LUMI supercomputer
On June 13, MACC’s coordinator, Rui Carlos Oliveira, went to Kajaani, in Finland, to attend the inauguration of the European High Performance Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) supercomputer, LUMI.
LUMI is a pre-exascale system based on a Cray EX supercomputer supplied by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and capable of executing more than 375 petaflops or more than 375 million billion calculations per second. LUMI Supercomputer is the fastest and most energy-efficient supercomputer in Europe, and the 3rd fastest in the world.
According to Rui Carlos Oliveira, “LUMI's is a terrific example of Europe's collaboration power. In 3 years, 10 member states managed to coordinate, invest, design and install one of the fastest and greenest supercomputers in the world."
During this visit, MACC also participated in the EuroHPC’s governing board meeting to discuss important topics of the network.
