MUG 2022 discussed HPC-related topics in Portugal and Europe

This year’s edition of MUG: MACC User Group Workshop, organized by MACC, gathered around 70 people, from experts to users and potential users, to discuss topics related to HPC in Portugal and Europe, such as the future of HPC, Advanced Computing, Sustainability, and Social, Economic and Educational challenges. The event took place on July 7 and 8 at the Crowne Plaza hotel, in Porto, Portugal.

This edition of MUG aimed to foster a collaborative environment between different stakeholders, promoting the adoption of advanced computing techniques and engagement with the operational team to better serve the scientific community.

On the last day of the event, the Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato, was at the event to give a speech about green and sustainable computing and its importance in Portugal.

"As a national infrastructure integrated in EU’s EuroHPC network, MACC’s mission is to promote and enable capacity building, sharing and cooperation on advanced computing. Most national researchers are potential MACC users thus greatly benefiting from MUG's community and events.", said Rui Oliveira, the Director of MACC.”
