MACC participates in the RNCA 2021 Meeting
The Minho Advanced Computing Center (MACC) participates in the RNCA 2021 Meeting, which was held virtually, between 28 and 30 September. The participation of MACC was focused on the two supercomputers: Bob and Deucalion.
MACC participated at 3rd LUMI/EuroHPC JU Systems Roadshow
João Barbosa, researcher at MACC, presented at the 3rd LUMI/EuroHPC JU Systems Roadshow the past, present, and future of MACC. The presentation focused on the beginning of MACC, the current initiatives to bring researchers to the HPC world, including training and workshops, and the future with the new EuroHPC petascale Deucalion supercomputer.
Sustainable HPC project will reduce the carbon footprint of the Deucalion supercomputer
Supercomputers are systems with huge data processing capacity, capable of performing millions of billions of calculations per second and solving complex problems, in fields like engineering and science. However, this complex hardware requires specific facilities and cooling systems, using up significant amounts of power.
