The Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato, paid a visit to Minho Advanced Computing Center, where the Government delegation learned more about the developments in the installation of the Supercomputer Deucalion. It represents an investment of €20M and is expected to be ready this autumn — it’s currently in the testing phase.

This supercomputer weights something like 26 tons, can execute 10 petaflops or 10 million billion calculations per second and is known as the “green” supercomputer, since it will run on fully renewable energy sources.
